A new update was posted today that resolves issues reported during the past few weeks. Another one will come out within 10 days that includes new features. Here are some important notes to consider:
End of Year GL Closing
For years we have had a known issue where the retained earnings were not posting to the GL when performing a year end closing. We had a very simple correction procedure. However, we have now found the source of the problem and corrected it. You will find if you do your closing with this version, you will not need to make the manual adjustment.
Payroll Tax Tables
The IRS has released new withholding tables, and we have updated our table accordingly. You will need to move the new file to it’s proper location. The file is APAFTT.DBF. It will be in the \ASW10s\MLS folder. Copy it to the \ASW10s\Data folder and click Yes to overwrite the old one. Then go into ASW and Reindex the Employee option ( Payroll ) ( under Tools, Index Files ).
In addition, you will want to download Notice 1036 from the IRS.gov site. This has the new withholding allowances and some other important notes.
Inventory
ASW has a very comprehensive parts system that automatically tracks, and applies, superseded part numbers, and also provides for cross reference lists. When using Kits or Parts Pick Lists, these will still come into play. We’ve done some tuning in these procedures but be sure to let us know if you have any issues after the update.
Scanner
You will notice a new button, not yet active, in the Workorder Parts section. This is to provide rapid input using a barcode reader. All parts come with the UPC code printed in barcode on them. With this new feature you will be able to scan in parts, and the system will draw information from inventory. Then it will only be necessary to adjust the quantity and any pricing changes once you complete the scanning. We are studying various scanner products to find one that works best in your shop environment.
