Update issues

On Tuesday an update was issued ( 9.51.31 ) with features detailed in the previous post.  There was one error in the code, so an update to 9.51.32 was issued to correct that problem.  In most cases, the update actually installed before most shops were affected by the initial problem.

In some cases the .32 update did not download while in most cases it did.  So today ( Thursday, 8 am ), we’ve issued an 9.51.33 update.  There is nothing different between .32 and .33 except for the numbering, hoping to force these systems to all move to the correct version.

The auto download has been fully tested, and is working.  IF it is not working at your shop, we need to find out why.

In one case, we found that the shop needed to reboot their server and then the .32 update downloaded as it should.  This would seem to be unnecessary but we can count on computers to sometimes get stubborn.

Please check the About box to be sure you are on version .32 or .33.

ASW Version 9.51.31

We have added some new capabilities, and performed some fine tuning, while we continue to prepare ASW 10.

If you are using Demand Force, this update gives you significant new features.  It allows you to select which customers you will send to the Demand Force system.  This is significant because in some cases you may have clients who were only at your shop when “passing through town” or otherwise not an ongoing client.

Now, on the Client record, you will see a checkbox that is followed by Demand Force.  ASW will only submit records for those boxes that are actually checked.

We know this would be a lot of work to do manually.  So, we built a utility.  Under Tools on the Menu, select Setup, then 3rd Party, Demand Force, and the Setup option.  You will see a new “Select button”.  It will ask if this is the “first time” and answer Yes.  Then it will ask for a start date.  This checks the date of last visit field, and indicates how far back you want to go.  So if you want anyone who was last in during the past 5 years, enter  01/01/10.   Then anyone who was last in since January 1, 2010 will be selected.

Once you have done this the first time, you can go through the client editing screen and uncheck any boxes for people you don’t want to send follow ups to through the Demand Force system.  Remember, uncheck the box, then click the Save button.  Yes, this may take awhile, but it is only one time.  Make it easy by working through the list with your eyes focused on the box.  Then you will only stop to uncheck those you don’t want.  If you goof, you can re-check the box any time.

Now, lets say you want to change later to just those who were in during the last three years.  Go back and run the utility again, with the new date.  HOWEVER, when you are asked if it’s the first time, say NO !  Then it will only uncheck people who were in beyond the past three years.  For those you already unchecked, who might have been more recent, they will remain unchecked.

If you want to use this feature, do this proceedure, then call 949 589-3186 right away so we can update your MLS9AUS.exe ( auto updater ) to the version that supports this capability.  Otherwise, all records will continue to process as they are now.  We’d suggest you all let us update your system if you are using Demand Force.

There are other items in this update that addressed specific items brought to our attention.  Please feel free to email us if you have an unmet need with ASW.  Some items we will be able to handle in ASW 9 updates … but some may otherwise be added in ASW 10.
