Update – September 29

You may notice periodic updates that show up on your system. Another will arrive today or tomorrow. We know you are very busy so we don’t interrupt your day with bulletins. However we are here, and we do listen. People love to share refinements and new ideas and that is what we put into those updates. Also, our “core engine” is continually being updated with new capabilities and smoother operations, so we add those.

In our recent invoice, our comments stated that we know many of our clients simply don’t know of the many features and benefits that are available in Auto Shop Writer. We would be happy to offer Zoom sessions that allow you to learn more about your system. These are not classes. They would be fully interactive sessions. You ask, we demonstrate and explain. If you have an interest, please email timstone@masterlinksoftware.com and we’ll setup the classes.

Finally, sometimes people encounter questions or make mistakes. They might spend hours, or even days, trying to figure out how to solve the problem. That sure can be frustrating, and frankly, we don’t want you to feel that way. So if you run into a problem, PLEASE email, text, or call right away. Help is here, waiting for you, and it’s all included in your DPP membership … so please take advantage. Yes, your communications will even be answered in the evening or on weekends. Often someone will go into the shop on a weekend, encounter a problem, and place the call. It’s so much easier to get help when you need it rather then wait for “normal business hours.” And no, tech support is NOT provided by script readers. You get into “engineering” once your communication is received.

We hope you are all well and that your businesses are handling this difficult time.

Auto Updater new file

We uploaded a new MLS10aus.exe file to your computer. It is located on the server, in the ASW10s\MLS folder. This includes a couple of changes necessary for two of our 3rd party vendors, Kukui and Carfax.

To install it, on the server, follow these steps:

1). In the lower right corner of Windows on the task bar, look for a round icon that looks like a palm tree on an island. If you don’t see it, look for the ^ symbol, and when you click on it there should be a popup screen and you should then see the icon.

2). Right click on it, and from the menu, click the last item to quit the application.

3). On the task bar, look for the little folder icon. This is Windows explorer. Click on it. Then. on the left side, browse down to the ASW10s folder. Click on the plus on the left side, then click on the MLS subfolder.

4). You will see MLS10aus listed. The date is 7/17/20. Rigfht click on it and select Copy

5). Now click on the main ASW10s folder so it is highlighted. RIght click on it and you will see Paste. Select that.

6). Finally, you will now see the MLS10aus in the main ASW10s folder. Be sure the date says 7/17/20. Double click on it to get it started.

You can now exit the Windows Explorer.

Of course if this seems confusing, just call in and we’ll go online and do it for you.
